About the Artist
Linda Trucksis
Linda spent many rewarding years in the visual arts while wishing for more time to paint and draw. She remembers that her passion for art began in third grade when an amazing public school art teacher inspired her to create, get messy and use color. In high school, she focused on 2-dimensional art and sold her first canvas painting at a sidewalk sale. That hooked her on the fun of sharing art with others and seeing the joy art brings to lives of all ages.
She graduated with a B.A. in Art Education from Otterbein College in Columbus, Ohio and worked as a public high school art teacher for several years. She then worked as public relations coordinator for the Columbus Museum of Art. Married life took her to the east coast for four years, where Linda worked for an advertising/PR firm. After a year, Linda launched her own public relations business focusing on promoting a sculpture gallery, a high-end catering company and other creative businesses.
When she and her husband relocated back to the Midwest, Linda loved being a mom while her two daughters were growing up. During that time, she was a part-time art teacher for kindergarten through fourth grade at a private Christian school for a few years and volunteered in the arts community.
Currently, with her daughters grown, Linda is painting and expressing the beauty of God’s world through her own paintbrush and palette. She has taken numerous workshops from professional artists around the country, including a landscape wildlife artist at The Scottsdale Artists School in AZ. She has studied with Bill Fletcher, Chuck Marshall, Jan Boone and others. Each of these painters are professionals who have provided training in oil painting techniques and her artistic style. She says the paintings of famous artists like Sargent, Potthast and Monet give her energy to paint with energy and expression.
Her paintings are mostly landscapes since she feels that everyone has places in their own lives where they feel connect, relaxed and at home. For Linda, the beach, the mountains out west, and the wooded fields close to her home are what inspire her. Linda also paints the horses, dogs, cats, chickens and other wildlife that have lived at her house over the years. There are always plenty of animals around their barn to depict in paintings.
The grandeur of God’s creation in nature keeps Linda wanting to paint better. She strives to add light into each painting using colors and sunlight to reflect the beauty of simple things and places. Her paintings are impressionistic, using loose brush strokes of fresh colors in a contemporary style. She loves to use thick paint and the textures it adds to paintings.
Linda has been selling her work through commissions, art shows and personal references. She is a member of the Women’s Art Club of Cincinnati where she often paints in the club’s historic barn setting with other artists. She has also taught children’s art camps and classes at “The Barn” location over the past six years. She enjoys the way children create with less inhibitions and simply express what is they are thinking using paint and other creative materials. By investing in the next generation of young artists, Linda believes art will inspire, sustain and connect people from all walks of life with themselves, God and their communities.
Linda can be found painting outdoors, called “Plein Air” and in her studio. She is learning that painting is a life-long passion that can go wherever her travels take her.
